Internet Selling

(Note added 1/9/2021:  this site has been on the internet almost 20 years now, and this page’s content is a bit ancient, but all the policies are basically still the same.  At this writing,  I’ll redo this entire page when I have time, but that may take a while.  For now, and right now, I’m in the process of enabling on-site shopping, here, so it is a good time to note a few new security measures:  [1] http has been converted to https; [2] my service provider is one of the very big big ones, and the website interface is the biggest; [3] For years there was a routing issue on my site between justsaxes.com and justsaxes.net addresses at the hosting level, though it wasn’t the host’s fault, which I never resolved because it was a hassle every time I tried, and I didn’t need the site to route less confusingly because there was no commerce happening on the site itself — that has been fixed, but it may take your browser some time to stop routing to justsaxes.net.  It’s OK if your browser does that — you’re still on justsaxes.com and your purchases are still secure.  Some people my have noticed that routing issue in the past, so it deserves clarification on that security front.  I hesitate myself greatly any time I order from the internet, in terms of the security of the site I’m using to purchase.  Please do not hesitate if you have any concerns at all to email directly, regarding any and all items listed.  You can actually save 3.1% by NOT using the PayPal shopping cart.  A lot of people these days seem to prefer a quick, automated, click-and-go purchase, so I am updating my site and its shop-now capability to meet all clients’ needs better.  I always prefer that clients pay less, and no fees that aren’t absolutely necessary, so it is not an inconvenience in any way to conduct biz the way so many of us used to in the earlier days of the “interwebz”.)

(Note added 8/2018:  when this site was originally put up, back in the days of building it in Netscape, long before WordPress, before frames was a site-building norm, just being able to process orders via PayPal, and embedded PayPal buttons, was a big change from pre-web business practice.  Now, despite that security’s a much more serious issue than back then, having an online store is much more important to customers.  I realize this, but am a click  behind the times until I can find time to build an online store.  Until then, the way to order is still to email me or contact me first, and then arrange payment.  There’s an upside and a downside to that.  The downside:  until I can work out all the security details and mount an online store it’s still generally not possible to just visit my site and make an instantaneous purchase.  The upside:  without an online store platform, your purchase is unusually  secure by today’s standards.  I do not store your credit card, nor does any company other than PayPal (if paying by credit card), and your CC and/or identity are both safer than they would be purchasing from, say, a large national department store.  The current purchasing method also saves you some money, because it is possible to process credit card payments without surcharges from the CC processor.  I do list items on eBay for instantaneous sale (username “tungp”) but eBay tacks on an ~13% surcharge to sales, so that is tacked onto the listing price when items are offered there.  I always prefer that clients pay as little as possible.  I’m working on putting up an online store eventually, and when it’s up it will be linked to the frontpage, with a button or tab visible on every page. In the meantime, to purchase any Just Saxes offerings, please bear with me and send an email or call or text.)

Some of the horns at Just Saxes will be listed on eBay, on occasion, but most will not. Since putting this site up, and at this writing, most horns sell before I have a chance to fully list them, whether locally or by mail-order (indeed, a good number sell before there is time to list them on the website at all). Additionally, as time passes, and as is natural for a new business, local business has continued to grow at the speed of word of mouth, and this growth tends to pick up momentum over time. While there isn’t always time to attend to updates to this website as often as I’d like, I make an effort to keep this site and the inventory pages up to date. Attending to existing, completed sales and hired work does take priority over website updates, so when there isn’t a pressing need to make updates, they can go without being made for a while.

However, if you see a PayPal button available for an item, then that item is in stock. It hasn’t happened yet, but in the case I should ever neglect to remove a PayPal payment button for an item, I will cancel your payment and return it to your account at my earliest opportunity. I will not try to hold it and ask you whether you want another item, or otherwise withhold immediate refund as some web businesses do; I will cancel and refund your payment.

Not seeing a button does not mean that an item is out of stock — indeed, I rarely place PayPal buttons in listings.  Limiting automated shopping helps me to avoid falling behind on paid sales and service.  Please feel welcome to email or call about any items that interest you, as that is how sales are completed via the web 99% of the time.

I fully recognize – more so every day as I myself find more and more of my own shopping taking place online – that shopping online can be a harrowing experience (especially, for some reason, when shopping for things like electronics and cameras). When you phone or write Just Saxes, though, you are always dealing with me directly, the proprietor and owner, and there is no such thing as “passing the buck” or “front-line” customer service. I recognize that, in large part because internet shopping does tend to be more stressful, doing business at a distance actually requires greater consideration, in many ways, than doing business face-to-face.
